COA in progress
Scientific Background & Mechanism
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a tripeptide composed of lysine, proline, and valine. It corresponds to the C-terminal three-amino-acid sequence of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) and has been investigated primarily for its effects on inflammatory signaling.
Experimental studies indicate that KPV can influence NF-κB and MAP kinase signaling and reduce expression or secretion of certain pro-inflammatory mediators in cellular models. Research involving intestinal epithelial and immune cells has also demonstrated uptake of KPV through the PepT1 peptide transporter.
Earlier experimental work suggests that KPV's biological effects are not necessarily mediated through the conventional melanocortin-receptor mechanisms associated with full-length α-MSH. This makes KPV useful for investigating the molecular pathways associated with the C-terminal region of α-MSH independently of some of the parent peptide's other biological activities.
These mechanisms remain primarily supported by in-vitro and preclinical research and should not be interpreted as establishing therapeutic efficacy or safety in humans.

Relevant experimental conditions
Prepared research samples should be handled according to validated peptide-stability information and the laboratory's established sample-handling procedures.
No human or veterinary dosing, injection, administration, or treatment instructions are provided.
Storage
Store KPV according to the conditions established by the applicable product specification, manufacturer documentation, and validated peptide-stability information.
Protect research material from environmental conditions that could compromise peptide integrity, including inappropriate temperature, moisture, excessive light exposure, contamination, or unnecessary environmental cycling.
Prepared laboratory samples should be maintained under conditions validated for the particular solvent or buffer, concentration, analytical procedure, and experimental duration.
Laboratories should document preparation and storage conditions to maintain appropriate sample traceability and experimental reproducibility.
Scientific References
Scientific literature relevant to KPV includes research examining the biological activity of α-MSH and its C-terminal KPV fragment. Reviews of α-MSH-related peptides describe effects involving NF-κB activation, inflammatory mediators, immune-cell activity, and related signaling pathways.
A 2008 study specifically investigated PepT1-mediated uptake of KPV in intestinal epithelial and immune-cell systems and reported effects on NF-κB/MAPK signaling and inflammatory markers in experimental models.
Earlier pharmacological research also examined the C-terminal KPV fragment separately from other α-MSH sequences and reported mechanistic differences between KPV and conventional melanocortin-receptor signaling.
